Goodwood is located in West Sussex, England. For a long time now, Goodwood has been hosting some of the most exciting races in the country. One of the most notable race meetings is the Qatar Festival which is one of the race meetings with the finest flat racing. The meeting hosts three out of the thirty two Group One flat races renowned in England for their history and engrossing racing. The three races held here are the Nassau Stakes, Sussex Stakes and the Goodwood Cup.

The racecourse is considered to have one of the most scenic views of the Sussex hills. Spectators have always had a good time watching the sport of Kings from this venue. The venue sits north of Trundle Iron Age hill fort, which has been used by spectators as a grandstand owing to its excellent view of the racecourse. Though the scene is quite
absorbing on a nice summer day, the racecourse can be tough to race at on foggy days due to its closeness to the coast.

The course is used only for flat racing, and is one of the complicated courses in the country. The straight stretches
for six furlongs and is known as the Stewards’ Cup Course.’ The first furlong of the straight is a climb with the rest of the straight sloping downhill with a sharp corner just at the end of the straight. The Cup Course’ is close to the winning post. When it is racing time, horses usually go round the loop running on the outer side of the straight then back. The loop itself is not easy to manoeuvre as there are sharp turns and furrows.

Aside from racing, Goodwood racecourse also hosts a number of events as it doubles up as an entertainment facility. The venue hosts some of the most eclectic music concerts with abundant eating options from the Sussex Bistro to Charlton Hunt, Horsewalk Restaurant, Sussex Roof Garden and the Double Trigger Restaurant.

 

Kempton Park is among the busiest horse racing venues across Europe, and has hosted some enlivening race meetings over the years. The racecourse is also an entertainment venue that offers conferencing facilities. Kempton Park is often used for small to medium scale
events whenever there is no racing going on. With an all-weather track , the racecourse can host races all through the year no matter the weather. Jump racing starts in October and goes on to the month of April, and flat racing is held every afternoon and evening on the all-weather track all year round.

The racecourse is located at Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey, England. It was opened in 1878, and has been hosting
flat racing and National Hunt racing since then. The most anticipated race meeting is the Grade 1 King George VI Chase which comes on Boxing Day. The Grade 1 King George VI Chase is part of the William Hill Winter Festival. Other notable races that take place here include the Feltham Novices’ Chase which is also a grade1 race that happens on Boxing Day. Horse racing continues on the following day with the Desert Orchid Chase which is a grade 2 race. The other notable race at Kempton Park the BetBright Stakes takes place in the last week of February. The Sirenia Stakes comes in early September as another highly anticipated race day. Kempton Park hosts other races including the Hyde Stakes, Sunbury Stakes, Masaka Stakes, London Mile, Wild Flower Stakes and the Dragon Fly Stakes among others.

Kempton Park has two racecourses which accommodate all the activity throughout the year. The all-weather course, which was opened in March 2006, is a polytrack synthetic course that comes complete with flood lights. The National Hunt course is a triangular circuit with a tun-in 220 yards long.

The racecourse has a long history dating back to 1890 when it was first opened. Since the racetrack opened up,it has always sported the Prince’s feathers in its emblem.

Lingfield racing track started out as a track used only for jump racing until 1894 when it got the go ahead to host flat racing from the Jockey Club. Since then, the track only halted racing during WWII. The course was managed by Ladbrokes who later sold it to Arena Leisure. The new owner saw to it that the all-weather track was changed from Equitrack to Polytrack all-weather surface. A modern grandstand worth £5.5 million was also built as part of efforts to bring the course up to speed with current developments.

Newmarket racecourse is one of the famous British racing venues located in Newmarket, Suffolk. The flat racecourse is designed for thoroughbred horseracing and has been hosting races for 3 centuries now. It is currently part of the group of racecourses run by the renowned Jockey Club, which took over the running of the racecourse from 1974. Newmarket racecourse was first opened in 1667 which is over 350 years ago. Having hosted the sport of kings for so many years, the racecourse is considered the home of British horseracing. The title also alludes to the fact that many prominent horse racing organizations are also based close by.

Newmarket racecourse light up when two of the five British classic races, the 1,000 and 2,000 Guineas, are held here. The racecourse holds 9 race meetings in total through the year.

As one of the oldest venues for horse racing in Britain, the course carries with lots of history. Part of this history also includes fascinating stories of royalty. The first race held on the course was one between Marquess of Buckingham and Lord Salisbury with a £100 prize for the winner. This was a few centuries ago in 1622. In 1665 King Charles II inaugurated the Newmarket Town Plate and went on to become the first and only monarch to win in it 1671.

The racecourse holds a capacity of 45,000 with two racecourses; the July Course and the Rowley Mile Course. Both of these are wide with no obstacles, perfect for flat racing. The July Course is also  affectionately referred to as the Summer Course, and has a straight one mile long named The Bunbury Mile. The course goes downhill for a long stretch after the first two furlongs with an uphill climb stretching for one mile towards the finish. The Rowley Mile Course has a two kilometre straight with The Dip’ at the end. The dip is an area in the course towards the finish where the hoses go downhill and one furlong uphill.
